About Solid Food

Solid Food was founded in 2016 with the objective to bring the highest quality quinoa to Europe while maintaining a sustainable business model. At Solid Food we sell quinoa and quinoa ingredients to the retail and food industry (B2B). We like to refer to quinoa as ‘the complete seed’, as according to us, this complete protein has every aspect needed to be used in a wide range of applications.

We are a vertically integrated company (from field to fork and fully traceable) with two entities: our sourcing entity in Peru - where we support our farmers and their families on a daily basis, with the aim to help develop a thriving business and improve their living conditions - and our sales organisation in Belgium.

For our entity in Belgium, we are looking for our new Operations Manager.

Within our small company you will be A to Z responsible for our operations and supply chain.

This is a very diverse roll with many responsibilities, in which you work side by side with our Managing Director.

Your responsibilities:

Manage supply chain of Quinoa from Peru:

  • You are the main contact for our team in Ayacucho, Peru (manage our sourcing operations together with the team in Peru, ensure smooth supply and solve issues) - including 2-3 visits/yr to Peru
  • A to Z supply chain process: supply planning, stock orders including negotiation and buying, import, logistics, supply to warehouse, to guarantee a constant bufferstock in Europe
  • Manage warehouse (follow-up of import administration, correct warehousing, updated stocklist, regularly visits)
  • Process sales orders from A to Z: reserve stock, place order in system, arrange transport, share necessary documents, follow-up with client
  • Ensure smooth deliveries and finalize administrative process of customer

Manage supply chain of Quinoa Derivates:

  • Select subcontractors for repacking of quinoa and quinoa derivates (benchmark companies, negotiate contracts, necessary admin and exchange of quality documents necessary for collaboration)
  • Manage subcontractors for customer supply within lead times (reserve stock, organize transport, follow-up of production, organize delivery at customer / warehouse)
  • Day to day contact and problem solving

Administration:

  • Creation and follow-up of invoices
  • Payments to third parties

Quality:

  • Adjust/Update product specifications for customers
  • Customer complaints handling
  • Prepare and follow up of audits
  • Follow-up on new regulations and share these with SFP

Requirements:

Furthermore, we’re looking for someone that has:

- Bachelor/Master degree or Higher education in Supply Chain management, Accounting or a related field

- Proven experience in supply chain management, reporting and administration

- Experience in negotiating with third parties and buying skills

- Able to work independently, with strong organizational and time management skills

- Attitude: take ownership and problem solving while striving for continuous improvement

- Analytical mindset and strong attention to details

- Flexible (weekly calls with Peru), 2-3x/year travel to Peru

- Fluent in Dutch, English and Spanish (both verbal and written) – French is a plus
